The History of Vintage Shoes


The Early 1900s
1900-1919 was a time a great social change. During these years, the shoe was pushed into the forefront of fashion with the dawn of the Edwardian shoe and Keds.

The 1920s
During the 1920s, shoes were influenced by Modernist, Cubist and Bauhaus aesthetics. Shoe designs were focused to simple lines with bold fabrics & colors.

The 1930s & 1940s
To escape the economic struggles of the 30s, people found comfort in the glamour of Hollywood, causing a rise in seeing more skin, open-toed shoes & sling backs.

The 1960s
Since teens began dictating fashion in the 60s, expensive fabrics and rigid designs were replaced by comfort and affordability—the dawn of the chisel toe shoe.

The 1980s
The rise of women in the corporate world during the 80s led to the introduction of the power shoe which exhibited both fashion and success.
